Old Tiger Stadium

In July 2007, Ripken Management & Design was brought on by the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy to consult on the reconstruction and programming options for Tiger Stadium, former home of the Detroit Tigers.  As part of our agreement, RMD has performed a feasibility study to analyze the stadium’s use as a baseball and event facility.  In addition RMD has worked closely with the Conservancy’s chosen architect Hamilton Anderson Associates, to take blueprints and modify them to maximize programming and baseball spaces.  RMD will soon take on the task of creating a variety of field renovation options for the conservancy to help restore the field into the elite venue it once was.

As part of our agreement, RMD has:

• Performed a complete economic feasibility analysis that outlines all programming and facility options and makes specific recommendations to maximize the social and economic impact of a renovated Tiger Stadium.
• Presented programming options the renovated stadium including sports options, private party rental, corporate events and public use.
• Created pro forma financial estimates to predict the financial feasibility of operating the stadium.
• Identified reuse options for the stadium including museum and event space
• Worked closely with Hamilton Anderson Assoc., the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy’s chosen architect, to analyze interior spaces and make suggestions on how to maximize their usage.
• Worked closely with the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy to create a one-of-a-kind baseball and historical destination in the heart of Detroit.

As the project moves beyond the preliminary planning phases, Ripken Management & Design will continue to consult the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy on the ways to restore Tiger Stadium into an elite baseball venue that captures the history and feeling of the 95 year old stadium.  Our additional services for this project include:

• Using our experience and relationships in the sports industry to help the Old Tiger Stadium conservancy select vendors for the renovation of the field, seating bowls and all other applicable portions of the stadium
• Complete a plan of action and budget costs for a full redevelopment
• Examine RMD and Ripken Baseball relationships to determine if any good fits for sponsorship rights or other synergistic ventures
• Provide sales and marketing training to the staff of the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy to assist with programming the new facility

At the request of the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy, RMD, with our construction partner FIELDS Inc. is prepared to complete or assist with all construction and design documents necessary to undertake the renovation of Tiger Stadium.  Through FIELDS, RMD is able to utilize the resources of one of the nation’s premier sports field construction firms and construct a professional level facility that will proudly extend the history of Tiger Stadium for the foreseeable future.
